It’s that time again! Nominations open this week for the Student Union by-elections. There are several positions to be filled, so don’t be shy about running. You will have an active voice in the student govern- ment, meet new people, (and possibly learn some- thing). Take a chance, it’s worth it.

We have many goals for this year at UPEI and one of the foremost of these is to re-establish our Winter Carnival as one of the best social events of the year. lam presently compiling a list of eager volunteers who are willing to donate a liitle time and effort to this cause. Getting involved means meeting a lot of hew people, having a lot of fun and feeling good about yourself. If you are interested could you please drop me a note down at the student union office. | have regular office hours set so if you want to mix- ure of students from all class groups. After! get the list together I will be holding a meeting to get things rolling.

Message From VPF

Welcome Back Gang!

Well, here we are again! Back for another year! My name is Laurie Callaghan and I am Vice President Finance (VPF) forthe UPEI Student Union. Iama third year Business student, majoring in accounting. The VPF has many duties within the Student Union. I keep the financial records of the Union and keep everyone informed on issues pertaining to the fi- nances of the Union. I also present financial reports to the Executive and Council members. As VPF, it is also part of my duties to be a representative on the Board of Governors.

I have been invovlved in the Student Union for two years. Last year, I wasa Business Representativeon Council and now this year on the Executive. Getting involved in Student Union activities was one of the best things I’ve done at UPEI. It has helped me to learn a lot about the role of the Student Union at UPEI, and what they’ ve done and can do for studeits. Now you have achance to join the Student Union. Bi-elections are here again! There area few posi- tions left to be filled - so get out there and get in- volved!
