Equality — A Prerequisite for Peace

What matters that neither men

The emancipation of women, the achievement of full equal- ity between the sexes is one of the most important, though less acknowledged prerequisites for peace.

In the world of humanity we see a great difference; the female sex is treated as though inferior, and is not allowed equal rights and privileges. The denial of such inequality | perpetrates an injustice against one half of the world’s popu- lation, and promotes in men harmful attitudes and habits which are carried from the family to the work place, to political life, and ultimately to international relations. There are no grounds, moral, practi- cal or biological, upon which such denial can be justified.

Humanity is like a bird with its two wings — the one is male, the other female. Uniess both wings are strong and im- pelled by some common force, the bird. cannot fly heaven- wards. According to the spirit of this age, women must ad- vance and fulfill their mission in all departments of life, becoming equal to all men. They must be on the same level as men and enjoy equal rights.
