DAMAGED TWO CARS-A hit and run driver damaged two cars which were parked on Euston Street near the Rochford Street intersection at 12.25 yesterday. The offending driver first drove his car into another ca: parked on the right side o1 the street, then back- ed his car into a. third which was parked on the left side. He failed to remain to investigate the dam- age done, but his number was re- ported to the City Police. The first car struck had steering gear, axle and bumper broken.

Y., 17—R.lding a flooding tide down the strangely calm Hudson. the mighty Golden Bears of California had picked up the Pougizkeepsis trail today exactly where they left off with the historic regatta in 1932—1n a stunning victory over six of the finest varsity eights in the intercollegiate world.

His Excellency Bishop O'Sullivan administered the Sacrament of Con- firmation to 160 children in 5t- Paulb Church, Summerslde, on Sun- day afternoon. The sacred edifice was filled to overflowing with rela- tives and friends of the children. The altar was tastefully decorated for the occasion with lilies of the valley, lilacs and other spring flow- ers. Speaking on the universality and vitality of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Mr. Murchi- son took as his text portions of the fifth and sixth verses of Colosstans. chapter 1, "the word of the truth of the gospel, which is come unto you, as it is to all the world; and bring- eth forth fruit." The message of the gospel came to Coiosse through Ep- aphras. A little Christian society was established and commenced to grow. , Before long came the menace of false teachers, on the one hand the necessity of mediators, on the other the necessity of adhering to the Jewish ritual. News reached Paul at Rome. From his prison cell he sands the lovely letter to the Col- ossians. in which he sets forth that in Christ there is the one mediator, and in Him the one sacrifice. Christ- ianity 1s universal in its appeal. Wherever it comes, it changes lives. Wherever it comes, it places a prem- ium on truth and honesty. Christ- ianity is vital, it bears fruit and in- creases. One of the humble minis- ters to its increase is the British and Foreign Bible Society, which carry- ing out the programme of Penticost, is attempting to have all men hear “the gospel in their own tongue. To this end the Society has in the past year circulated, in whole or in part 10,993,000 copies of the Holy Scrip- tures in 678 different tongues. In its years of service ii. has made the word of God available ln 1.000 lan- guages, in the last 28 years it has ac- quired 270 languages for the spread of the gospel.

In a very interesting fashion the speaker described some of the prob- lems of translation and some of the triumphs in such effort. A former classmate of the speaker had re- cently finished s. translation of the New Testament in one, the African languages which up to that time had not even possessed an alphabet. Miss Pearl Burns, contralto, sang with fine expression “How lovely are Thy Dwellings."

The church was draped in the Papal colors and the altar was tastefully adorned with flowers and potted plants. Mass was celebrated by Bishop O'Sullivan, the whole congregation and children assisting. Immediately following the Mass the Sacrament of Confirmation was ad- ministered, Rev. Martin Monaghan, D.D., P.P., assisting the Bishop. The Bishop addressed the children and congregation and gave them very practical instructions. The candid- ates for Confirmation received Com- munion at 8 o'clock. They were me guests of the Sisters at the convent for breakfast, whose kind hospitality was very much appreciated.
