Since this fantabulous program guide comes out only three times a year, we believe that you the students and faculty should have the right to know what is happening at your radio station. What better way to get to you than through the X-press. _

As many of you may have heard, CIMN is holding a Grind Core concert Friday, November 20th at the UPEI Barn. Four. bands from the Atlantic region will keep you entertained for hours. These bands are Tormented, Skinkeeper (who have appeared at the barn recently), Earth A.D. and Charlottetown’s own Son’s

Son’s of the Mourning have also appeared at the Barn recently. They played at CIMN’s Band Bash at the first of the year where they were a big success. The four members of the band are Dave MacDonald, vocals; Shawn Smith, guitar; Pat Deighan, bass; and Mike MacDougall, drums. Though the band has not been

together long, the quality of their music (all original, unlike .

some other renowned Charlottetown band) is very outstanding.

Friday may bring some havoc, along with ginormous amounts of

fun, to the Barn. With the type of music these bands play, one can expect to see a bit of moshing, trashing and slamming, yet probably more safe than any bar downtown. And don’t be surprised by the tickets. They are in the shape of toe tags but this does not mean the we expect anyone to be wearing them before the night is over. They are just an ingenious little gimmick to stimulate the over zealousness of people’s conver- sation, thus improving sales. No. actually we did it for the fun of it. Youknow - A JOKE!

CIMN has changed it’s format this year. We are now using a block format in which the prime time radio is filled with all kinds of interesting specialty programs, such as environmental news, sports, spoken word programs, and in the future, radio plays. Another feature that is new this year is the Playbox. The Playbox consists of the most resent alternative music that usually would not get very much airplay. Butnow CIMN’s DJ’s must play a specific amount of this music, hence keeping truth in our slogans -’’ The Island’s Only Alternative’’ and ‘‘Where the best music is always heard first’’.
