Camp Keir Boys Camp Concludes

After 10 exciting days filled with Bible Study. handicraft. soft ball, volley ball. swimming. sing- ing. campfire, devotional periods. and of course the inevitable camp chores, Campers began leaving

For days and days and days there had been no rain. The Green Meadow: and the Old Pasture were turning brown. It seemed an if everything was drying up. Laughing Brook had been getting smaller and smaller. The Smiling Pool had become almost too small to -smile. Everybody wu com. piaininglot the heat. There was no happiness anywhere. Anyway. that is how it seemed.

Polly Chuck. sitting on her door- step. had been searching the sky for a cloud and not one could she 'ind. She was worrying. Yes, sir, PONY Chuck was worrying.

"'He's calling rain!" cried Polly.

Johnny Chuck was just as she was but he wasn't worry- ing. He is happy-go-lucky and lei- dom worries about anything. Pol- ly had turned to go down into the house where it would be cooler. Just then Johnny heard a voice and told Polly Chuck to listen. At first she heard nothing. She was just about to go down in the house when she heard the voice. Both knew whose voice it was. It was the voice of Stickytoes the Tree Toad. who isn't a real toad at all.

Johnny was partly right and partly wrong. Stlckytoes couldn't call rain. But he could tell better than most folks when rain was coming. There is I reason for that. Stickytoes has I queer skin. It feels the least bit of moisture in the air. Whelf it 15 dry he ll very uncomfortable. Sometimes there is in little bit of moisture before there is any other Ilsll 0' rai coming. Stickytoes feels it an begins to call.
