The genial doctor is interested in the race tracks and race horses in the Southern States. He has been an enthusiastic patron of racing in this province, and in early youth built a race track in his native Tignish. Following the discussion that arose. a motion was passed mg: the board regretfully decline the suggestion that the board vote a portion or all of the funds of the Fox Education Committee for the purchase of a grand piano. due to the original nature of the funds and that it was held in trust by the Board. ,

A further motion was passed that if the Community Concert Association canvass to be held in town, is successful. and if the grand 'piano is purchased by the Association, that the balance of the music committee account, originat- ing from the sale of a piano, one owned by the board, he donated to the Association to help in the pur- chase of a grand piano. The act- ion of the council on both these matters was ratified by the meet- ing on Thursday night.

At the r gular meeting on Thursday night, the president ap- pointed Mr. R. S. Hinton as chair- man of a committee whose duty it will be to consider whether these funds can be used for this purpose and if so to drawn up regulations regarding the administration of the fund. The board decided to recom- mend to the town council that cor- onation day be flttlngly observed. It was felt by the members that this historic event should be celebrat- ed in a manner that would reflect credit on the town of Summerside. Merchants will be asked to decorate their places of business and private citizens their dwellings.

The president, Mr. Alan Holman. dated that the Tourist Bureau at Ref-id's Corner would again be in operation this coming summer and that grant from the provincial government would be forcoming to assist in the upkeep and running of the bureau. Mr. Holman, on be- half of the Board. expressed his appreciation to the government for this financial assistance.

It was decided that the May meeting of the board would be 1 dinner meeting held at Robson: Restaurant and that the board avail itself of the opportunity to procure Mr. Watson Joiner. chair- man safety traffic commlttee, Mar- itime Provincea Board of Trade as the guest speaker for the occasion. May 4th was the tentative date decided on provided it would be convenient for Mr. Jamer to come at that.time.

Mr. Kenneth Bell brought up the matter of having the white line painted on the highway as ii safety measure for night driving. Mr. Hell pointed out that this white line has been painted on the nev sections of the pavement but noth- ing has been done on the old parts. The secretary was instructed to write the proper authorities re- garding this matter.
