Mr. Arthur Bruce, Red Point, has had the misfortune of having his head out and received medical care which required several stitches. Mr. Bruce was working on the pulp boat recently being loaded at Scuris wharf and in same manner A chain broke and struck him on the head. He is about his work-as usual.

On Sept. all Mr. Syl Sutherland of souls, an employee on the drsgger owhed and operated by Mr. Richard Power of Norris Pond. had his face badly cut while at his work. He was taken to Scuris Hospital and had m-iical care and nine lstltches were necessary 111

RALPH DOUOITPI

Sadness was felt over the whole community when people learned of the death of Ralph Dcucetie of North Rustico at the early age of 42 years. after a long illness which was borne with great cour- age and fortitude. He was a fish- erman by occupation.

After many month; of treatment by competenttdoctors in the City Hospital his oynditlon remained unchanged. He decided toga to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Mon- treal, for treatment which was of no avail . He returned to the City Hospital where he was cared for until he was called to his etemsl reward on August 24. fortified by the last Rites of the Roman Cath- olic Church.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife and six children. his mother Mrs. (Capt.) William Doucettc. Montreal, and the following sisters and brothers. (Lillian) Mrs. Tu- dor Macxay of Australia, (Jean) Mrs. Albert Provost. Virgil, Elea- n-or and Martina all of Montreal. Francis and Harold of Rustler)- ville.

His funeral was held August 27, and was largely attended. Requiem Mass was sung by his Pastor, Rev. Fr. Robin. Also present in the Sanctuary was Rev. Fr. Pltre who also conducted the service at the grave. Pallbearers were: Messrs. Ray Doiron. Benoit Plneau. James Peters, Lawerance D. Gallant and Stephen Peters.

William Maclntyre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Maclntyre of Siwake Harbour, was painfully in- jured during the week. The young chap and his seat mate were Dumping water for the school when his finger got caught in the pump and the top of his right llldex finger was cut of! almost to the base of the nail. However. "Billy has the stuff of which heroes are made and the next morning he was back at school ready and willing to resume his studies, des- pile the fact that he was unable to write for several days.

Representatives of the Federation and Marketing Board were pfg. sent and gave timely talks on the Present potato market situation. the Proposed potato pool as well as passing on some keen obser- vations on what the growers might expect In the way of prices in the immediate future.

Upwards of 150 friends and neighbors gatiiered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Coffin, Savage Harbour. on Tuesday even- in; to welcome and honor their son and daughter-in-law who. on that day, returned home from an extended honeymoon visit to Bos- ton and other American cities. Mr. and Mrs. Coffin (the former Annn Robbins of Moieli) were married at Marie United Church on Thurs- day. Sept. M, leaving "the next morning for Boston. Great pre- parailons were made for the wed- ding reception on Tuesday includ- ing the erection of a large tani where those who so desired, and that was almost all present. could dance to their hearts content. A bmmmed supper was served to the large throng present, serving started at 5 o'clock and continued until almost midnight. Previous to their marriage several showers were held in honor of this popular young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Coffin will reside at Savage Harbour where the groom has been farming with marked success for many years. A host of friends through- out the Island join in wishing Mr. and Mrs, Coffin many happy years of wedded life.
