One of the latest comes from the Bank of Nova Scotia. Called the Scotiabank Savings Certifi- eate, they are sold at a discount of & per cent, cradually build- ing up to face value at maturity im six. years. That gives pur- ehasers $4 for every $3 invested, #f they hold the certificates for the six years.

The certificates are sold in denominations of $10, 525, $100, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $50,000. To make’ them more attractive to small imvestors, savings stamps can be purchased eat 30 cents each. Fifteen stamps then ean be exchanged for a certifi- eate worth $10 on maturity. «Refundable at any time. for principe! plus due interest,~ the eertificates represent an inter- est rate of 44% per cent com- pounded semi-annually, or an effective vield of 555 per cent at maturity
