I have known Mail Routes for tender. and if a man tendered for anything near what he should get. and there was no other tender‘ln

saying all tenders too high. Then they would write to different men in the country to try and get it done cheaper.

The _King Government could give the judges a. raise as will be seen. But our members are asleep at the helm when the mail courles claims were urged. They were awake lcng enough only to stop these cour- iers from getting their rights. No dcubt some of our Couriers tenders tco low. 11nd they can't afford prop- ,c1' equipment; therefore the people don't get the service they are en- titled to. How often do we hear it remarked when we don't get our mail. the Courier is doing the best he can for the money he receives.

Say a. Courier was getting seven hundred for a certain route. if he got fourteen hundred could he not give better service? He could have better equipment. feed his horses better. have s. horse about half way on his route. There he could change. Could drive faster. make better time and give o. better service all through.

But the way it is now he does not "get the money to do this with. I for one would like to see our Mail Routes driven by the mile, with a fixed rate of so much a mile.
