Council is to hold a Canadian championship match each year and select a representative for the world competition. Alex McKinney, president of the council, told 150 attending the annual plowing match banque in O'Leary Wednesday night.

Mr. McKinney complimented Island plowmen for their fin e work on Tuesday and Wednes- day in O'Leary also the par- ents of O'Leary for their evi- dent encouragement to their young people in 4-H club work. The presentation of prizes a n d trophies to O'Leary 4-H club members was a highlight of the

anquet.

Some reasons for the placings during the two-day plowing mat- ch were explained by the well known Ontario plowman who as- sisted D.M. Gilchrist, judge on both days of the matches.

Mr. McKinney also gave a brief outline of the various world competitions and the equipment developed by he makers of plowing equipment over the years. Commemorative cairns are erected on the sites of each world plowing match marking the place where plowmen from 19 countries in the free world use the plow to cultivate peace, Mr. McKinney concluded. PLOWING IMPROVES

Mr. Gilchrist in a few re- marks noted a decided improve- ment in plowing over the previ- ous year and also congratulat- ed the plowing match directors and members.

Raynall MacNeiil, president of the Prince County Plowing Association, acted as master of ceremonies for the banquet held ' the Christian education training centre.

Mr. MacNeill urged those in- terested in plowing in provincial
