As we enter the 21st century a long hard look is needed at the post-secondary institution and the role it plays in families’ lives. Costs are rising, cuts to education are becoming an everyday occurrence and quotas are being put on many departments. Major changes are necessary to take care of the needs of amilies, education needs to become more accessible

Life in the Fast Lane -Kate

12:05am Youngest son awake as usual, take him on knee to finish readings for tomorrow’s class.

6:00am Youngest awake for the day, feed him breakfast.

7;00am Wake older daughter.

8:05am Find $1.00 for running club, $1.50 for hot dog day and send son out the door, find $2.00 for daughter for her hot dog day and send her out the door as bus pulls up.

9:00am Study and eat donut and 7-up for breakfast in the lounge.

10:00 am Class

11:20am Daughter meets you with request for lunch money. Take her to lunch at dining hall, on the way, return library books, pick up book necessary for Friday’s presentation and new refill for pen at the bookstore.

12:20 pm Off to the lounge to finish some home- work.

1:00pm Class

2:20pm Running tocar to pick up child at school for eye appointment.

3:00pm Pick up daughter for trip to buy present for birthday party, while downtown, pick up drycleaning, one magazine, to read later, do banking.

3:50pm Grocery shopping.

5:10pm Pick up daughter at university.

6:15pm Daughter takes car to school, babysit grand- son.

7:00 pm Homework time, help son with French spelling, daughter with math and answer questions on the state of our countries’ affairs for the daughter in political studies.

8:00pm Read one French story and one English story for the two boys and tuck them in.

9:00pm Tuck youngest in my bed.

9:55 pm Other daughter now wants essay checked over.

10:25 pm Do homework of my own and do some research on an essay.

11:59 pm Start on magazine bought earlier. Hear
