Amone the arrivals from sea last evening was the little yacht ‘* Wavelet.” This pretty little boat came from Pictou.; and, her owner informs us, is to be sold here. {She was model led by J. E. Butler, of Halifax, whese ‘‘Hebe’ is celebrated for lier speed, and having sailed scores of races, and, if we are correct’y in- formed, never been beaten. Yachts from Batler’s models are this year being built on the Bay of Fundy, amd River John. The **Wavelet” is a splendid sea boat, and during: yesterdays gale did net ship tive gallons of water, in coming from Pictou. The boat will be an ornament to our harbor.

Cuarves Reap, a man close on his eightieth year, made application to the Premier yesterday torenvon for money to defray his expenses to Halifax. Read, when nineteen years of age, was drafted into the British army, at Edinburgh, and was in active service for twenty-one years--holding at one time the position of assistant Sergeant-Major, in the 10ist battal- ion of the Roya! Regiment. Since his dis- charge from the army he worked in the United States and Canada, coming recently to this Province, where he met with an accident which prevents him from work. He thinks he will enlist the sympathy of the military authorities in Halifax and be supported. The Premier furnished him witha ticket to Hali- fax aud a sum sitfficient to defray his expen- ses thither.

Tue Conver: rais Evenixc.—As will be seen by the following programme the cencert in the Convent de Notre Dame, this evening, at 8 o'clock, will be one of the grandest musical entertainments ever given in thecity. The programme has been excellently arranged, the pieces have been admirably selected, and the performers have been diligently practising for the past month. We advise all lovers of geod, sweet vocal music to be in attendance.
