Tar Packet Damsel arrived yesterday evening, from Pictou, bringing an English Mail, together with the Colonial and American Mails. As the intelligence thus furnished contains much that is in- teresting and important, we defer the in- sertion of some original matter prepared for the present number, in order to give room to the following gleanings from our latest papers.

EUROPEAN INTELLIGENCE,

The steamship Asia arrived at New York on Saturday morning, the 7th inst., and the steamship America arrived at Halifax on Wednesday morning the L1}th inst,, in 10g days from Liverpool. We have intelligence by both these arrivals,
