Boylen mining companies have spent nearly 37,000,000 on mineral exploration in Newfoundland to date and plan to spend an addi- tional 350,000,000 on development. He said the companies already had 28 diamond drills churning hundreds of feet into the earth seeking out new base metal dis- coveries.

Mr. Smallwood said in an inter- view that never in the history of Newfoundland had one company taken on such an extensive drill- ing program. He was quoting details of.a report made to him by M. J. Boylen. Toronto mining magnate, who left Newfoundland Tuesday after a visit.
