Barnard, of Summerside, died at Boston on Friday last cf typhoid fever Mr. Me Lean spert the early part of last summer in Summerside for the benefit ofhis health, which was not very good atthe time. He was ofa quiet, unobtrusive nature, and was much es tecmed by all who knew him.

Water Works Exrenpiture.—The state- ment of the expenditure on the Ambherst water works shows that the total cost of the works from the conception in September, 1890, up to November 3)th, last, was $65,066, the amount borrowed being $80,000, The cost iccludes ali charges for investigations, plans, surveys and construction of the work. The total nuuber of epplicants supplied with the water is 160, the proceeds from which amount to 6ver $1,000.

ALL indications now point to the opening of the rink next Mondsy night. The ice is being made more rapidly than in any form- er year, the foundation now being secure, and a splendid sheet of ice will greet the eye of skaters. Asa Christmas present vothing seems more appropriate than a Rink ticket, and it is to be hoped that a very large number of our citizens will take advantage this winter of this very healthy exercide. The Citizens’ Band will discourse their usual gool music on Monday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday after- noons,

Tue Sewerace Marrter.--The plans and specifications of a system of sewerage tor the city were received last evening, and may be seen at the office of the City Clerk. There is no material difference in the specitications from the report submittsd to the Council some time ego by Col. Waring. The actual surveys made by Mr. Swinburne show the grad.s and graduaiion to be much better thon Colonel Waring thought they wuld be when he was here, and, therefore, the construction will be much easier. The plons are drawn on a scale suitable to-a sup- posed population of 25,000 people. The estimated cost of construction is $133,533.40, but as this estimate is based on high units, Col. Waring expects some reduction in the actual work. Col. Waring suggests that the reservior be placed at Pownal wharf..
