Isn't it time that political differences were for- gotten at Ottawa and a combined ef- fort made to meet this emergency. before it is too late?
Commendable Stand
When the bottom fell out of the world market for uranium in 1961, Canada’s uranium industry took a _ bad beating. One mine after another was closed as the federal government, sole agents Yor the sale of the pro- duct. shared out remaining contracts mainly among the high-vield mines. The owners of the closed mines must have been elated when it was announced, recently, that Canada had begun negotiating the sale of 45.000 tons of uranitim oxide to France. This would be the equiva- lent of Canada’s total production for about five years. Negotiations for the sale. however. have broken down.
