The season has come to anend. The main events to look forward to now are the intramural playoffs and the UPEI sports banquet.

The women’s basketball team made it to the CIAU’s and lost in the first round. I’m pleased as punch for them. They had an awesome season topped off with a AUAA final victory at home.

The men’s basketball team left the season on a high noteas well. After struggling for most of the year the boys showed determination towards the end of the season. In my books that’s just as good as any win during the year. Too bad with the tough draw against Acadia in the first round, but from what I hear about the game it was close one. It’s hard to win games if the shots aren’t dropping.

The hockey Panthers forced a third playoff game against nationally ranked UNB. The boys saved what they had for the playoffs and ignored expectations that many of the fans had. It was good to see that attitiude.

I could put in a few guesses as to those who may get the awards at the banquet, but it’s a rough decision. I think the big question is who will get the female athlete of the year: Tracy

McGee or Eiranne Rigby, or maybe we'll see a tie. As for the most valuable male athlete, Glen Miller of the soccer Panthers is deserving. He led the UPEI team all year with successive wins and I can’t think of a player who deserves

the award more.

MVP for the basketball team is a tough one: Scott Morrison, Greg Lucas or Phil Davis are all good picks. I think women’s basketball MVP should be shared between Jenn Johnson and Eiranne Riggy. As fag the hockey MVP I'd say Dave LeMay or Dave Mitchell.
