Heritage Foundation * * at 2 Kent St., Charlottetown. This new location should provide more * * space as well as make it much easier for new members to find their way * * into our meeting room. FEBRUARY MEETING. On Tuesday, February lst Mary Herbert of the Nova Scotia Museum in Halifax will address the meeting. Well known as a lively and enter- taining speaker, Mary Herbert will be giving us the inside story on what a museum of natural history is all about. For all of us who thought museums were stuffy, this is your chance to find out just exactly what a provincial museum of Man and Nature could do and be in this province. Please note change of meeting location.

MARCH MEETING. The March lst meeting will be devoted to a launching of the 1983 Dronramme of the Mushroom Club. Katherine Clough will talk about the wonderful world of fungi. There will be displays of books and mushroom trivia. Anyone with material to contribute to the evening please call Katherine at 894-8390. She is also looking for books, paintings, photographs, models, newspaper clippings and mushroom anecdotes. Plans for 1983 field trips and identification sessions will be discussed.

APRIL MEETING. On Tuesday, April 5th, Dr. Lawson Drake, an entomologist with

the Dept. of Biology at U.P.E.I. will speak on the moths of the Island. This

should be a most interesting follow-up to his talk on Island butterflies given last spring, and will be a great way to start the spring insect season!

MAY MEETING. The May 3rd meeting will feature a showing of the entries in the annual nature slide contest. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded. Since this is the last meeting of the season, let's all make a special effort to attend. -

FIELD TRIPS

Cape Tryon. The annual excursion to the cormorant nesting cliffs is scheduled for Sat. April 16. Meet at the YMCA in Charlottetown at 9:00 a.m. for trans- portation or at Cape Tryon at 10:00 a.m. The day will also include a visit to the Indian River wildlife area to look for returning waterfowl. Dress warmly, bring a lunch and binoculars. Contact Geoff Hogan for more information.

Am hibian Prowl. 0n the first mild rainy evening of late April plan to join in the annual amphibian hunt. Dress warmly, bring flashlights, rain gear, high boots or waders, dip nets, etc. Sign up with Geoff Hogan.

Up West to Tyne Valley. This day—long spring field trip will leave the YMCA in Cahrlottetown at 9:00 a.m. to travel to the Tyne Valley area. Watch for more details in later newsletters.
