Q Owing to the protracted strikes in the United States mines, and also to strikes‘ affecting Canadian Lake Ships, supplies of coal and coke for domestic use have been ' seriously curtailed. In order that there shall be a fair and equitable distribution to all householders, Order No. Coal 25 has been issued. This order covers thcdistri- bution to domestic consumers in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces, and restricts use of coals of domestic quality by larger consumers. The most important clauses of this order are as follows: ‘

I. CLASSIFICATION of FUEL For the purpose of this Order fuel is classiﬁed as follows:

CLASS “A" FUEL _ I. United States anthracite coal in the following sizes-grate (brokenl

egg, stove, chestnut and pea; t . '

II. Welsh anthracite coal-cobbles, French nuts, stove nuts;

III. Any sized coke (except Beehive Coke), the largest (top) size of which will not pass through an inch and one~eighth screen; _ _,

IV. Low Volatile Coal-nut size and larger; Y. Briqucttcs-all kinds. ~

III. If required by the coal dealer, the consumer musfglve in writing over his signature the information set out in subsection (2) of this Section.

IV. A consumer who places purchase orders for fuel with more than one coal dealer mun arrange with each coal dealer with whom such orders are placed for the fuel ordered to bc delivered in quantities not exccdlng those set out in Section 4 of this Order. .

QUANTITIES OF FUEL AUTHORIZED ~ FOR DELIVERY. Until , llovcmber l, 1946, a coal dealer must not deliver to any consumer and a consumer must not accept delivery of, for use in any premises any more fuel of all kinds than the quantity which, when added to any fuel delivered since March 31, 1946, equals 80% of the normal annual requirements. Of this 80% there shall be no more Class ‘A fuel than the quantity which, when, added to any Class A fuel delivered since March 31, 1946, equals 60% of the normal annual requirements.
