The selections | were fine, and were thoroughly appreciat- ed. The pieces given were : Coronotum ; Nearer, My God, to Thee, and Rock of Ages. After the meeting was dismissed the Professor took two rew pieces from a from a chorus of voices, and had them im- mediately reproduced to the evident satis- faction of those who took part.
A Rewarxasre Case.—A young lobster fisherman named Stoddard applied to Dr. Perrin, the mariae hospital surgeon, a day 0. two ago for aid, as he had a little ab- ecess coming on the side of his jaw, which was heginning to get painfal. He said he had a fit while Jobster fishing nine weeks before and in pounding his fave around anong some rubbish he had inflicted a slight wound in his cheek un ler one cheek. This had about healed and only a slight scar was left, but the abscess had started lower down on his cheek, and there seemed te be someth ing hard in it. Oa examination the doctor found what was, apparently, the point of a nail in the abscess, but it was in so firmiy that ordi- nary forceps would not extract it. He got a strong pair of plyers, and to his amaze- ment drew out a full tenpenny nail w hich had gone in the man’s cheek under the eve and worked down point first without his knowing it was there, till the abscess The young man is,

Maher of St. John, whom the St. John papers including the Progress, Sun, Telegraph, Globe, Gazette, Record and Workman have been praising to such ex- tent the past six months, intends giving the citizens of Charlottetown an opportun- ity of having their teeth removed withont pain by the famous Hale Method. Murray to demonstrate the method at his office on Qneen Street on the dave of June 4th and Sth, as wiil be seen by to-day’s advertisment. The Chicago & Erie Railroad company is being sued for $50,000 by a man who was recently defeated in his aspirations concerning the Kepublican nomination for congressman in an Indiana district. The plaintiff hired a special train to carry his supporters to the convention town, but the other crowd boarded it and the conductor started off. leaving behind the faction for whose use it was intended.
