Supper Deata.—While milking a cow on Monday last, Mre. Paul McPhail, of Appin Road, died suddenly. She was in her sixtieth vear and leaves a husband and large family. Her death is much regretted by all who knew her.

Tue Raors.—For particulars of train and boat arrangements to attend the Charlottetown Driving Park races on the 14th and 15 Sept. see their advt. in another column. By this ad. it will be seen that specially low rates have been secured, and persons attending the races will be able either to retura the same day or stay in town till the races are over. As there are no exhibitions on the Island this autumn, we predict a great crowd on these trains and boate. All farmers, their wives, sons and daughters, should take advantage of the cheap rates to see what promises to be the best races ever held here.

Mr Wadman is thor~ oughly familiar with his sabject, and is an eloquent and graceful speaker. Recatra.—A weeting of the Hils. borough Boating Club was held last night at which Mr Joseph McCarey was ap- pointed chairman, and in conjunction with Or S R Jenkins and Mr T Monaghan, a committee to arrange for a race to take place on Saturday, the 10th of September. Boats between 18 and 24 feet on the water- line will be knownfas first ciaes; and boats under 18 teet will be in the second class. The course for the larger boats is yet to be decided on that for the smaiier boats will be inside the harbor. Only working sails will be allowed—the committee to decide as to what constitute working sails. Boats will] start from a given point or line with sails brailed. Entrance fee will be one dollar to be paid on the day before the race. A letter was read from Mr Jobn P Joy, offering a silver cup to ‘be competed for by boats of the Maritime Provinces, to be won three years im succession. The committee decided to confer with Mr Joy to bave the conditions of his offer modified, if possible.

The prohibition organization managers ia Ontario announced that there is now not the least fear of the work being ham pered for lack of funds. Money has po«red in all over the Dominion, and Mr. Spence says Ontario, between alliance and leeal organizations wil! contribute $59,000 before September 29.—
