Man Snor.—A mutinous affray took place last Tuesday evening on board the brig Oregon, Capt. Green, lying in the stream ready for sea. Jtappears that the mate and crew, who were all more or less under the influence of liquor, quarrelled with the captain, under some pretext, the particulars of which we have not heard, when he retired to his cabin for protection. They attempted to follow him, and even went so far as to smash in the door and windows, when the captain in self-def

(acisornta.-—Dates from San Francisco are to the 5th of June, Casey and Cora, the murderers of Mr. King, were hung on the 224 of May, the day the latter was Cace Several other desperate characters, including Yankee Sulli- Van, had been arrested by the V igilance Committee. That notorious individual committed suicide in his cell on the Ist of June, leaving a confession touching the elections in San Francisco. Martial lew had been declared in the city; but the Committee were determined to carry out their measures, end continued to make arrests. All the jourvals, except the Herald, sided with the Committee.

Gensar Fine ix Porrtann, Matyz.—A destructive fire broke ont in Portland on the morning of the 24th June, at 3 welock, on Middle-street, near Temple-street, and, as we learn, committed great hayoc. The fire broke out in the stall buildings in the rear of Barker & Dingley’s stable, and consumed that building, the Casco House stable, a build- ing next the stable containing sheriff Hmery’s office, the Tempie-street Church, the Codman Honse and stable, Muz- wy’s Block, the Casco House, and the smail buildings in the tear of Exchange-st. The whole space between Exchange-st. ind Temple-st. was entize!y burned down, with the exception ofthe buildings fronting Federal and Middle-streets, also the two story block on the corver of Temple and Middle-streets. The horses and carriages were principally saved. It is stated (hat most of the sufferers are pretty well insured. ‘The State of Maine estimates the loss at $200,000.

At St. Eleanor’s, on Sunday, the 6th instant, after a protracted illness, borne with exemplary meekness and resignation, Mary Exiza, fiith daughter of William Underhay, Esquire, High Sheriff of King’s County, aged 19 years, She was on a visit for the benefit of her health, to some of her friends at St. Elcanor’s, when terminated the sufferings of one whose many virtues and amiable qualities rendered ber av especial favorite with, and will endear ber memory to, a large circle of ac-
