Marian Hall Joke of the Week

Three Mar- ian Hallers and three Engine- ears were looking for summer jobs in Nova Scotia. They went down to the Telephone company and the Foreman said that they needed some labourers to put poles in the ground. So they were hired and were driven out to the job site. The Foreman told the Engine-ears to start to put poles in the ground along one power line and the Mar- ian Hallers on an other. Four o’clock came around and in came the Marian Hallers.

The Foreman asked, “How did you fellows get along?”

The Marian Hallers said, “Fine sir. We got 18 poles in the ground.”

The Foreman replied, “That’s real good for your first day out.”

Then in came the Engine-ears all covered in mud.

The Fore- man asked, “How did you get along boys? How many poles did you guys get in the ground?”

The Engine-ears replied, *T wo”.

The Foreman said, “How come you guys only got two in and these other fellows were able to get 18 in?”.

One engine-ear goes to the window and looks out and says, “Yes, but look how much they left sticking out of

the ground!” >
