How do you tempt the appetite of someone whdis ill?

Thatls a common problem fac- ed by the amateur nurse who is looking after a sick member of the family. some useful sugges- tionis are given in the St. John Ambulance Home Nursing course.

Much of the business of getting a. sick person to eat. is psychology. Do as much as possible to make him comfortable and relaxed be- fore bringing in his tray. Make certain that the room is tidy and well aired. with no unpleasant odours. Be sure that there are no prickly crumbs or wrinkles. If he is allowed to sit up. adjust his pillows to support him in a com- fortable position. Let him wash his hands and face.

What should you feed the pati- ent? That may be tip to the doc- tor, of course. But no matter what the diet, it should be well cooked and tastefully arranged to tempt. the eye. The traycloth should be spotiessly clean. Paper or plastic trayrloths can be at- tractive and will save on laulldlty.
