In order to honor those of our institute excelling in academic areas, the University of Prince Edward Island will hold its seamui annual Academic Honours and Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 1, 1981.

According to Earl Nicolson, of the Alumni Office, this affair replaces the Dean's Dinner of past years. The aim of the dinner is to publicly recognize all those, with the exception of seniors, who ere on the Bean's list or received prizes for academic achievements last year. vIt also provides an opportunity for the donors of the various awards to see them presented to the recipients

The Master of Cere- monies this year, Frank Ledwell, Dean of Arts, feels that this is the "most auspicious event of the entire year to recognize academic excellenCe". Over 200 students will be honored this year and hopes are that this event will prompt more students to do well in their studies. "Even thOugh this way of recognizing our students began just a year ago, the hope is that it will continue as a tradition", said Dean Ledwell. ‘

A permanent part of this event is to have a guest speaker who was also an awards winner when he/she was a student.
