Hopes For Real Progress On Gas Pipeline

OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Min. ister St. Laurent said Wednesday he hopes "real progress" will be made at a meeting here with Al- berta, Ontario and gas company officials in getting a natural gas pipeline built from Alberta to eastern Canada.

He was asked in tho Conimnns h.V John Diefcnbaker (PC-Prince Albert) about a report that a meeting will be held soon in Ot- tawa among officials of the fed- eral and two provincial govern- merits and representatives of Trans-Canada Pipe Lines Ltd. and of Alberta gas producers.

Mr. Dlefenbaker asked whether the meeting aims at settling once and for all the problem of financ- ing the 3-'l50.000.000 pipeline.

Mr. St. Laurent said he does not know whether the meeting will settle the question finally.

Trans-Canada Pipe Lines Ltd. has run into delays in financing its proposed 2.200-mile line. Re- cently the board of transport com- missioners granted a six-month extension from April 30 on the company's deadline for showing financial capacity.

Adult Group Welcomes Family

-The Adult Group of the Sum- merslde Presbyterian Church achieved a happy combination of a business meeting and. surprise housewarming Tuesday evening. May 10, when they met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bis- hop to conduct their regular monthly meeting and to welcome the Bishops to the residence they have recently occupied on North Market Street. The meeting was opened with the Lord's Prayer and the minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs. Eld- red Simmons. Plans were made to have a cooking school at the Presbyterial Hall on June 8. The meeting closed with the mizpah benediction.

A social hour followed during 'which Mr. and Mrs. Bishop were presented with a table lamp. Mr. D. R. Morrison made the pres- cntation on behalf of the group. Mr. Bishop thanked the group on behalf of himself and his Wife. after which lunch was served.
