Oils stood out on the topside with the best showing of the day among the major groups. Skelly was the leader closing at 119 $4 up 1 3-4 after a highly favourable earnings report for 1948.

Rails were backward and under selling pressure most of the day.

The Associated Press average of 60 stocks lost .1 of a point at 63.8. Both the industrial and utility com- ponents of the average were un- changed, but the rails lost ,3 of a point.

The volume of business was fair at 800,000 shares as against 1,070,- IOOO shares on Friday.
