School Trustees Given Authority To Borrow Money

ROTHESAY, N. B. Sept. 29 — A resolution passed at a special meeting of the ratepayers 0f Rothesay Consolidated School last night gave the trustees authority to borrow money to purchase l suitable site and erect a regional composite high school subject to the approval of the department if education.

The money needed to build the school is borrowed from a bank, on the guarantee of the depart~ Iment of education, which pay: approximately one-half the cost, after the building is completed. The department also provides 50 per cent of the cost of bosses used in transporting the pupils to the school. Seventy-five per cent of salaries of vocational teachers employed in the school is also paid hy the department o." . cducation. About 175 students or these grades are now crowded into the present Rnthesay Consol- idated School. It is expected the new regional composite high school will be situated near the present school. but with separate playground facilities.

At present, the upper grades of the Rothesay Consolidated School are crowded and a great increase iii the student body is anticipated within the next few years with the large number oi new homes being constructed in the Rothesay district.

The September meeting of New; Haven W. I. was held at the home. of Mrs. Frank McElroy, Charlotte- ‘ town on Sept. 4th. Meeting opened by singing “Institute Ode" and re- peating "Creed" in unison. Roll call was answered by sixteen members. 75 cents was realized from "Grab Bag." School Com- mittee reported geiting water pail and chalk for schools. It was mov- ed and seconded to get dustbane for school. .
