A FRIGHTFUL aceident occurred at the nut works, on Frederick street, Toronto, on the 5th inst. An employee named Samuel Nech- olas, While attending a machine, had his right arm caught ia a pair of rollers; his arm was drawn in to the shoulder and torn from its socket and casé upon the floor at the other side of the machine. The injured man was living at 12 o'clock, but cannot survive long.

Tee ALLEGED SpaNIsH OUTRAGES ON American Vessers.—The report of Ad- miral Wyman to the State department differs iu important particulars from the aftidavits of the masters of the Merritt and the Newcomb, the vessels alleged to have been first fired upon by the Spanish cruiser. It is now admitted to be doubtful whether they were not within the Spanish jurisdic- tion at the time. But it is claimed that the third vessel, the George Washington, was not less than fifteen miles from the Cuban coast when brought to by a shot across her bows.

A special from Laramie City says a man named A. C., Angelo was found dead beside the Union Paeitic track this morning. He had been ran over by the vars and ended his life by shooting himself through the head. The man is probably St. Aubrey C., Angelo, corresp mdent of the Liverpool Courier, who was with Prince Napoleon in Zululand when the latter was killed?
