The summerside Kinsmen Mid- gets defeated the Charlottetown Victoria Midgets at Crystal Rink last night by the score‘of 11 to 0. and will carry a five-goal margin into the second game of a home- and-home series to be played in the North River rink Thursday night. The visitors scoerd the first goal. but Summersidc soon tied it up. forged ahead. and were never again headed. Ciivc MacDonald was the leading sniper for the victors, get- ting four goals and one assist, Ron McArthur -was second with three goals and one assist. and Everett Gallant had two goals and two as- aists. Donald Darby. whose play- making at centre ice was a feat- ure of the contest, picked up four assists. The Vics distributed their goals evcnly, five players each gel.- '.ing a counter.

The Prince of Wales College girls hockey team. llas an un- broken sirlllz of five victories. They have taken into camp. Prince Street School girls, Wes‘ Kent School, Bedeque, Hunter River and the latest victims have been Georgetown. The girls are not eligible for inter-scholastic play- offs, but they seem headed for the flnnls in any senior girls playoffs which may be arranged.

They have not played Summer- sidc, but may arrange games with that [own very long. It is understood they are willing to play any challengers who come along. \

Villemain Wins Close Decision from Gavilan

MONTREAL, March 20-—(CP)— Robert Villemain, France’: middle- weight buttler, took a close de- cision from Cuba's Kid Gavllnn here tonight in a 10-round over- weight boxing match before a re- cord indoor crowd estimated at 14.000.

Villemain. a pre-fight six-to-five favorite, entered the ring with a 10 1-2-pound margin over the dusky Cuban who weighed in at 147 1-2. The fight carried a weight top of 158 pounds, set by the Mon- treal Boxing Commission.

It could not be learned im- mediaicly what the exact gate or attendance was, but it appeared to be a record crowd for a Montreal indoor fight.

Despite their loss. we are glad to see that at least one section cf the Island made the effort to keep the Mainland conscious of the fact that the Province is still intcresied in junior competition and that al- though the showing was notofihe calibre sent out from here in past years. it will keep the doors open for future seasons when it is hop- ed Island junior teams will again be able to dominate in Maritime Junior comlpetiticn as they have done in the past; and who knows, maybe that team will come from O'Leary yet

For ihe past two years at least. the ileum representing the Island has been sent _into. Maritime play by acclimation, due to the lack of other contenders for the Provincial title. the weight being carried by P. W. C. last year who captured the N.B.-P.E1. title. before be- ing eliminated by Halifax Saint Mary's juniors for the three-Prov- lnce title. It is about time that a junior league is developed here again. and it is hoped that those who are interested in the revival of junior play here. will take the bull by the horns next season and get a good junior league rolling again.
