Golds registered a half point in the index despite some sizeable losses. Vol- ume was heavy for the two hour session at 1,851,000.

Calgary-Edmonton and 01mm were features of the oil share trade the former pushing up to 5.20 and holding a gain of 40 cents at 4.90 and the latter advancing 50 cents to $3. WINNLPEG, Feb. ’l—(CP)-Sud- den advances of nearly four cents a bushel in wheat prices on the Winnipeg grain exchange Saturday accompanied a rush to buy the grain for export.

Values closed 2 1.8 to 1 l-d cts higher, net. May at. $1.28 3-4, July $1.23 1-2 and. October $1.12 7-8, with export sales placed at more than 500.000 bushels.

Boosted by a late-session de- mand for wheat that found little for sale in the market. the price of the May future jumped 3 3.4 cents from its low point for the day to a high of $1.29 1-4 before tapering off toward the close.

Coarse grains prices rallied smartly with wheat. Cash grains continued inactive with little change in spreads.
