omy. One special-factor which has encouraged the growth of female empléyment in this sphere is that many service in- dustries have relativeiy successful in utilizing part-time help, thus permitting women to combine jobs with their home responsibilities.

As has been true for women; the increase in jobs for men | since 1950 has been most notable in the service-producing* indus- tries. The expansion has been quite steady throughout the whole peridd and has averaged close to 3% per cent per year. Nevertheless, men have not | shared as fully as woman in tne |
