According to the Women’s Network calendar of events a TAKE BACK THE NIGHT MARCH AND CELEBRATION to protest the violence against women and children in our communities and to demand our right to saftey. All women and children are invited to room 106 at the Basilica Recreation centre, Richmond St. in Charlottetown at 7 pm. The march will begin at 8 pm (please bring a flashlight). Entertainment and dancing will follow the march. For more information, call the PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre, 566-1864.

The student population has a significat voice and presence in this community and as such should be represented at this event. So on September 21 get out your flashlight and TAKE BACK THE NIGHT.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 Your are invited to a brown bag lunch on Friday, September 28th in the Dalton Hall Dining Room, 12:30 - 1:30 PM.

The purpose of this gathering is to plan a series of brown bag lunch discussions On the toppic of research on gender issues in general and violence against women in particular. Orgainizing this lunch series is part of our commitment under the research focus on Gender Studies (funded by the SSHRCC Grant-in-Aid of Small Universities). That proposal was, in part, a response to the Montreal massacre.

If you have an interest in gender studies (or should like to learn more about it), please come to this first lunch were we can plan, as a group, how we’d like to proceed. We (the members of the Women’s Studies Group) will come with some ideas but we’d like the entire group to be involved in the planning.

Please invite interested students to attend as well. We hope to have a good mix of faculty and student

participants.
