Dear Mr. Epvrror,—How the years are going by. Twelve years ago now I was in Prince Edward Island preparing to come to the Northwest. Manitoba was _then regarded as a faraway ‘Terra Nova’ Some of my friends regarded my appointment as venturesome to myself and hazardous to my family, and predicted when the six years of disciplinary appointment had transpired that a trans- fer to the old land down by the sea would land me on your shores again. Twice that petiod has gone, and as you see, I am still in the tar West. And, much as I would like to revisit old scenes and old friends, yet I have not lost faith in the West.
