Being ll1l1'd at the half, the Whelan driven hoise came on in fine fashion to pass Gahagan and Peter Clegg and win the mile in 3.11.

Joaiidale. Marion E. and Las- sie. Lliclllc were all double win- ners. In both Heats of the classi- fied trot, Joandale won only by her blistering stretch drive to the wire. -The Lewisville Cubs took their New Brunswick-Prince Edward Is- land series with Curran and Briggs in three straight games by beating the Curranites at Lewis- ville on Saturday by the score of 6-3. The game was easily the best of the three, C. and B. getting down to a steadier brand of de- fensive play, matching the smooth Keefe Cubs in this respect, each team chalking up two errors.

Maurice Cannon was the star of the visitors" performance, belting two pitches over the fence. one in the second inning and one in the eighth. The second inning hit went far over the centre field wall. but the eighth inning homer was ll near miss, the ball hitting the top of the fence in left field, and drop- ping on the outside. No runners scored ahead of him in either case.
