PROVINCIAL PARKS ‘ #

Interpretation Week in Provincial Parks was broadened in 1989 with events planned at Mill River, Cabot and Cedar Dunes parks as well as

at Brudenell River.

The focus of events at Mill River centered on the river itself, rather than the park with activities as follows:

- fishing derby

- nature festival

- fly tying clinic

- fly casting clinic

— river walks

— wildflower design seminar

- birds along the river

- clam and mussel barbecue

The fishing derby was held over two days and was aimed at highlighting sport fishing for salmon. Prizes were donated for the best fish,

the biggest catch and the best fish story. The birds program featured a trip by boat to an osprey nest where Gerald MacDougall banded the birds. Several other organizations, officials and individuals were involved with presentations. Floral designer, Patricia Copping,

presented a program on using wildflowers in floral displays.

The program will be continued in 1990 and with the success of this

year, provide more activity and better promotion.
