ODD FILIDWS INVITATION — An event of much importance to the Odd Fellows of this city, took place at the regular session oi Wildey Lodge N0. 27 on Friday evening last. A class of five can- didates were instructed in the initiatory degree oi the Order. and other classes are to follow in the near future. It is expected that quite a number oi new mem- bers will join up and thus ma- terially increase the membership '.l"he degree was conferred by the" officers of the Lodge under Noble Grand William A. Warren and de- free master A. 0. F. Gill. This is an entirely new departure, and the results attained were very gratifying to the members. GAMING HOUSE RAID - At the Queens County Magistrate's Court yesterday nine local men appeared before Magistrate Gilbert Gaudct as the result of a raid carried out by the Royal Cans- dion Mounted Police on a "Com- mon (rambling House" Monday night. Two of the men were charged with keeping a gaming house and were rema - ed until March second for a_ p e- liminary hearing. Another who W115 represented in court by his counsek pleaded guilty to s. charge of being an inmate of a gaming house and was fined so and costs or one month in jail. The remaining six men were also charged with being inmates of ii gaming house and were remanded until March 1st when they will again appear before Magistrate Gaudet.
