, ,_ “n.1,- -_. _ ..._.--. -.H._._.___-_._............___.,.____ be determined by the V the male members of the church present, being of the age of twenty-one years, who may be contributing from six shillings and upwards, annually, and not in arrears, and any male member of the church being of the age of twenty-one years, and who may be contributing annually from fifteen shillings and upwards, and not in arrears, shall be eligible to hold office as trustee.

III. The seal of said church and all deeds, books, minutes, vouchers, subscriptions, obli- ,gations and securities for moneys, and all and ses‘ery description of property really and truly belonging to the church, shall, immediate- ly after the passing of this Act, pass into the. custody and possession of the above named trustees, and shall be by them transferred to their successors immediately following them in office as trustees.

IV. It shall and may be lawful for the said corporation to contract for and purchase, or in any lawful mode, whether by demise, bequests «or otherwise, to acquire or obtain, either in fee simple, for life'or for any term of years, for the benefit of the said church, messuages, lands, tenements, buildings in this Island, and to take and receive the necessary legal convey- ances, securities and transfers thereof, and which said messuages, lands, tenements, real or personal estate shall be and remain vested in the said corporation to be used and disposed of however for the benefit of said church according to the dis’cretion of said corporate body.

V. It shall and may be lawful for the said corporate body, for the time being, and they are hereby authorized and empowered to grant, sell, lease, exchange, mortgage, convey or dispose of to such person or persons as they think proper, and for such prices, sums, rents or terms as shall be agreed upon, the whole or any part of the said lands or premises now held. or hereafter to be conveyed to or held by the said corporate body, and to such extent and proportion as they shall think proper, and every deed or conveyance thereof, executed by the said trustees in their name of office, under their common seal, shall be valid in law to convey, for years or otherwise, all such estate, title and interest as the corporation of the said Baptist Church have or may hereafter have in the same.

VI. It shall not be liwful fdr the said cor- poration to hold real estate for the use of the said church which shall exceed in value and

VlI. This Act shall be deemed a public Act, and shall be judicially taken notice of as such by all Judges, Justices of the Peace and Ministers of Justice, and other persons Whom~ soever without being specially pleaded.

An Act to naturalize Charles Otto VVInkler. [Passed April 19, 1869.]

IIEREAS Charles Otto Winkler, intends

taking up his permanent residence or domicile within this Colony, and is therefore desirous of being naturalized, and has given satisfactory assurance that he is willing to as- sume all the duties and responsibilities which may attach to him in the character of a good and faithful subject of our Lady the Queen: Be it therefore enacted by the Administrator of the Government, Council and Assembly, as fol- lows :—

I. The said Charles Otto Winkler, as soon after the passing of this Act, as he shall take and subscribe the Oath of Allegiance to ‘Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Her Heirs and Sue- cesors, in manner prescribed in and by this Act, shall, within the limits of this Island, be and become, and be held and adjudged to be a natural- ized subject of Her Majesty, entitled to all the rights and privileges of such subjects, as fully as the same rights and privileges can or may be conferred by the Legislature of this Island, and under and by virtue of the Act of the Imperial Parliament, passed in the tenth and eleventh years of Her Majesty’s reign, intituled “ An Act for the naturalization of Aliens.”

II. The said Charles Otto Winkler shall take ' and subscribe, in duplicate, the Oath of Alle- giance, before a Judge of the Supreme Court, in open Court, and the Judge shall attest the same.

III. One cepy of the Oath shall be filed by the officer of the Court, who shall receive there- for, and for making the duplicate, the sum of five shillings, and he shall forthwith transmit the duplicate, certified under his hand and the Seal of the Court, to be filed in the Colonial Secretary’s Office. ’

IV. The officer shall also give a certificate, under his hand and the Seal of the Court, that the Oath of Allegiance has been taken, which certificate shall be evidence of its contents, and therefor he shall be entitled to the sum of five shillings.

V. Nothing in this Act contained, shall be of any force or effect, until Iler Majesty’s pleasure therein shall be known.
