The major issue we have dealt with in this edition of the Sun is that of the proposed cutbacks and join- ing of courses and facul— ties in our institutio . These changes were proposed and discussed by five of our top Administrative

‘ staff. These five people are making decisions tot- ally without concern of the implications of what they are attempting to do and without the support ‘of either staff or students.

_ If these programs are cut or greatly altered, it will reduce the chance of having people educated in these disciplines who, could bring prestige toUPEI with their fumre achievements. These honors will all go to those who were trained in other universities out of the region that are offering sufficient courses to be called a university and not a Mickey Mouse College.

If the major consid- eration here is to save

money, why wouldn't the athletics department, which huge amounts of money is spent on for no good reason other than entertainment— be out rather than courses? . People should get their pri— orities straight before mak- ing major decisions which affect us in all terms of the present and jeopardize

with us is a polytecrmical college or a basketball camp.

What possible good will come of a degree frana no » longer existent university ' which went down because of incapable admin— - istratim. It is to stop letting the reputation of this institution be ruin- ed by the ignorant. It is time for more consideration to be spent on education a. rather than commnity affairs. Dear Editor: Once again our student

council has managed to stage

a marathon council meeting

and pull off some astounding

feats. I'm quite sure

grade school councils could carry on business in a more mature fashion. are supposedly educated but

spend so much time bickering

and acting like childish imbeciles that the result is four to five hour meetings. No wonder no one shows any interest. And our hiring board — a big production this year due to the great number of job applications. Elaborate tests set up - unfortunately they had little bearing on whether a person was hired but meant so much to ensure a person wasn‘t interviewed. And, . after all that, some of the lucky people granted interviews decided it

i wasn't even necessary to show up for it and still got hired. Easy to understand our $15,000 plus a year (general Man- ager, who is only the Chair- person of the Hiring Board, neglected to show up with no effect on her job.
