A long account of his interesting and remarkable adventures was published in the Bulletin of the Belgian Geogre- phical Society and copied into a large part of the European press. The interviewer filled a column of La Gazetie Greographique and in it the envoy said that Buonfanti’s account of his adventures in Timbuactoo was supretaly ridicu!ous, and that no such person had ever been there.
It is understood that the Inter- rational Association had decided that it had no further use for the talents of the Marchese Maurizio de Buonfanti, and had issued orders for his recall some time before the news was received that be had fallen a victim to African fever. He at least achieved the noto- riety of foisting himself for a time upon the attention of geographers with one of the most ingenious fictions ever iavented by irresponsible travellers,
