TOURISTS LIKE ISLAND BUT DISLIKE WEATHER

By JEAN MacISAAC Guardian - Patriot Staff Writer The tourist season is a memory as winter closes in, but a glance at the visitors book at the travel bureau in Charlottetown shows that the thousands of tourists here this summer had more than a few comments on their impres- sions of this island province. The weather was the cause of many complaints, but most remarks w e r e complimen~ tary. The general opinion might be expressed in the words of one farm ly \ho wrote. "We loved it in spite of the rain."

Many visitors praised the lovely beaches, but several said the water was too cold. One commented on the good camping areas and another said there were not enough. The “great big mosquitos" came in for a barb.

The hospitality and scenery was remarkable according to one tourist, others described the landscape as “enchanting or beautiful". ere wa s praise for the highways, food and courteous service well as the hospitality land people.

During the months of July and A u g u st around 15,500 signed the visitors book at the C o n f e deration Chambers. There were 17,000 to 18,000 during the whole season last year, and this year there were more visitors than last. it was stated. However, it was esti- mated that probably only one third of the visitors to the chamber signed the book.
