Brookfield Literary and Debating Society is encouragingly in the ascendant. A very entertaining meeting was held on the pight of February 25th, crowded with the inteliigence and elite of eurrounding who had before them the iuapiration of the pleasant countenance of the Rev. Mr. Millar, who occupied the chair. A very interesting aud wel! delivered programme took up the first part of the night as follows:

The debate was then opened the subject being “Woman's Rights.”

It was opened by Mr. Ewen Campbell with a very eloquent and elaborate speech in favor of extending the franchise to the ladies. He was supported by Mesers, D.
