The annual meeting of the Wilt- shire Dairying Co. Ltd. was held in North Wlltshlrs Hall on Feb. 14th with a large attendance of shareholders and patrons.
The president, Mr. dwln Ed- wards presided and o ensd the meeting with a review of the year's work.
The secretary. Mr. Nelson Hather- fey, reed the minutes of the 1948 annual meeting. These minutes were adopted as read.
The secretary then read the fin- ancial statement of business tran- sacted during the year 1948.
The following are a few oi.’ the figures:
Butter manufactured. 298,950 lbs. Paid to patrons for cream, S190.- 92120; this represents the largest yolume of cream received and larg- est amount of money paid to'pa- trons in any one year since ‘the installation oi’ the butter making plant in 1924. being in excess of 1947 by almost $65,000 paid to pa- trons. Approxlmately 49,000 lbs. more butter. compared with eight years ago, the increase is much more noticeable.
1948 butter made, 298.950 lbs. Paid to patrons, $190,922.20.
1940 butter made. 130,589 lbs. Pnid to patrons, $27,205.78.

Swedish officials are reported to believe that if Norway signs the Atlantic pact Russia will not con- filie herself to more diplomatic measures.
They believe Russian troops will be deployed in threatening posit- ions, thus "turklshing" Norway by forcing her to drain her economy by keeping large forces mobilized. This would make her more depend- ent on foreign aid. adding to the burden being curled by the United States and so creating another chain reaction in the cold war. The Swedes fear such a demon- stration against Norway might also involve them. “There is an- other possibility,’ one official s ‘s. “I prefer not to think about it. That is a.
