The Lawrence Porter is owned by the Porter Construction Co., of Montreal and has been chartered by the British War Ministry. She was on her way frqn the Great Lakes when she ran ashore Wed- nesday evening. It ls reported that her regular captain was not aboard.

On Friday two launches from the Palmer and Williams Ltd. Boat Building Plant in Summerside were despatchied to the scene. On arriv- ing they found that due to the heavy sea running it was impossible to contact the tug and rescue the men, so they achored for the night.

During the night one of the boats on which were Mr. A W. Pamer of Palmer and Williams Ltd, Mr. Lauder ‘of the Porter Construction Co., and Theodore Arscnault, dragged her andior. When it was attempted to get under way engine trouble developed due to water in the gas line and when the tide went out she grounded.

Then the men had the hazardous experience of wading ashore in y. ‘st deep water and being ulled up the face of n 40 foot cl ff by a rope-certairil an experience not soon to be orgotten.

On Saturday a plane was des- patched from No. 1 General Re- connaissance School and food and supplies were dropped to the men on the tug.
