LOST VALUABLE HORSE — During the electric storm Sunday morning about 12.30 lightning struck the barn owned by Mr. John Ross, Best Royalty, the bolt split the studding from the hay loft b0 the ground and instantly killed one of Mr. Rose's finest. horses valued at $175.00. A young. colt was stunned but recovered. Several other animals in the barn were safe as no fire occurred. The s ikes in the wood were cut off as c can as if done by a saw.

AT ROTARY — Plastics, "the warriors of today and tlic ser- vants of tomorrow," were fully described at the weekly Rotary Club luncheon at The Charlotte- town yesterday by H. F. Ryan. Canadian General Electric Co.. Halifax. Mr. Ryan told of the origin of plastics arid the war- time uses to which they are put. He also told of the present peace- time uses ot this composition and how it contributes to the war ef- fort by replacing other material vitally needed for military pur- poses. His address was made more realistic by the showing of slides and the exhibiting of various types of plastics. Mr. Ryan was introduced by Mr. G. Hughes and tendered n vote of thanks by the co-chairman, Mr. R. E. Mutch.

Flight-Sergeant James Theodore Roach. formerly reported missing and now presumed dead. was born in Charlottetown twenty-four years ago the son of the late Captain and Mrs. James Roach.

He received his education at Queen's uare School, Prince of Wales Col ege and Si. Dunstans University. Prominent in college. sports. especially football and! hockey. he was captain of the‘ Charlottetown Royals when they won the Maritime junior title.

Enlisting early in the war in the Army, he transferred to the RCAF in 1941 and went overseas as a Sergeant Air Gunner in Sep- tember. 1942. He was promoted flight-Sergeant in January, i943. and was reported ‘hissing on Aug- ust 10th, 1943, after a lght over enemy territory.

I-le leaves to mourn a. sorrow- ing mother and a brother John V.. in the Canadian Navy. is father. a Skp. Lieut, RCNVR died on August 1st. May they rest in peace.

It was with a profound shock that the ‘people of Alberton and vicinity learned last Saturday of the death in England on June 14th of Gnr. James Ramsay.

Enllsting in the Royal Canadian Artillery in July. 1941. he left Can- ada. for Overseas the following October. About three mmitha ago he became ill but appeared to be lfllltlflfl a slow recovery. St. Dunstarrs Basilica was the scene of a pretty June wedding yesterday morning. when Miss Mary Judith DesRoches and Petty Officer Rex McCarville. NVR. were united in the hol bonds of matrimony. Rev. Lou Dougan, the naval chaplain, officiated and celebrated the nuptial mass. Mr. William Brown sang appropriate hymns-during the ceremony.
