With their liberation Parlslans have been having a grand time at the races. On October 7th some 5,000 Parlsians on foot or riding in charcoal burning jalopies, furs: drawn trucks and bicycles. made an eight mile trek to the Trenuo. lay track and celebrated the first‘ horse racing re.opening since the! capital was liberated. There was a sprinkling of American officers and men but not many due to transportation difficulties. The French turf has suffered severely because the Germans stole some 200 of the country's best horses and shipped them to their own country.
