Canadian Unity Essay Competition

Canadians atttending Universities and Col- leges are invited to submit an essay on Ca-

nadian unity. $2000 First Prize $500 Second Prize

* Essays may be submitted in either Official language

* Maximum length: 2000 words typed

* Essays must be submitted not later than 15 March 1999

° Entrants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants

* — Entrants must be registered students ata Canadian University, College or CEGEP

* Copyright must assigned to the Military and Hospitalier Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem

All entries must be accompanied by the name, address and telephone number of the submitter with proofs of student and citizen- ship status, a short curriculum vitae and statement of assignment. Graduate Scholarships

Are you planning to go on to Graduate Studies?

We have six scholarships available to students who are pursing their studies at other universities. Brief descriptions are listed below and applications are available at the Registrar's office and student serv- Ices. *

Completed application forms, along with a copy of your accept- ance letter for graduate studies, must be returned to the Registrar's Office by Friday, 30 July 1999.

The Dr. Lorne M. Bonnell Bursary, valued at $250, is offered to a student proceeding to graduate studies in Medicine (preferably born in Prince Edward Island and preferably a resident of King’s County or Southeastern Queens - Wood Islands, Belle River)

The Mr. Justice Mark R. MacGuigan Memorial Scholarship, valued at $500, is offered to a student proceeding to graduate studies, prefer- ably in Law.

The Dr. LI. Duffy Memorial Award, valued at $500, is offered to a student proceeding to graduate studies in Dentistry.

The W. Chester S. McLure Memorial Fellowship is available for a graduating student or graduating students from UPEI to assist such gradu- ating student or graduating students to continue his or her studies in the field of Business Administration or Political Science at any of the fol- lowing universities:

Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS

Harvard University, Cambridge, MA

London School of Economics,

Oxford University, England

York University, Toronto ON

The Lena Caroline McLure Scholarship of $250 is available to a UPEI graduate student receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in singing, who plans to pursue his/her music education at either The Royal Conserva- tory of Music, Toronto, Ontario, or the Faculty of Music at the Univer- sity of Toronto.

The Arlie Parks Scholarship is available in memory of Dr. Kenneth Macintyre to a UPEI graduate student who has been accepted for the study of medicine at a University or Medical School or College which in the opinion of the President and Academic Vice-President of the Uni- versity is qualified for that purpose.
