The" Passed peacefully away at’ the P. E. Island Hospital on Friday,‘ April 27th, Benjamin Thomas Rodd, in his 56th year. Of a. loving, sunny disposition. he bore his illness of about a year with a wonderful pati- ence and cheerfulncss to the end. The late Mr. Rodd was a highly respected citizen, and was ever in- terested in the work of the church, and was always ready to help in any good cause for the welfare ot‘ the community. Thc funeral was held Sunday, April 29th, from his home in Brackley, where a. large number gathered to show their sympathy and respect. Rev. A. C. Vincent of Charlottetown, his pastor, Rev, G. A. Christie and Rev. T. A. Wilson con- ducted the service. The hymns "Rock of Axes". "Take The Name of Jesus With You" and the "Old Rug- ged Cross," were beautifully render- ed by Mr. Edward seilick.

Many friends will learn with re- gret of the death iii the Montreal General Hospital of Mrs. Leyton Milllgan on Friday, June lst._Mra. Milligan was quite seriously ill and entered the Prince County Hospi- tal three weeks ago for treatment. On Thursday last it was considered advisable to take her to Montreal in cars of Dr. Simpson. The de- ceased was 59 years of age and was before hel- marriage. Eliza Yeo, daughter of the late George Yeo. She was a woman of exceptionally fine qualities of heart and mind and enjoyed the high esteem of a large circle of friends. There are left to cherish the memory of an affectionate wife and mother, her husband and the following family: Lila, Mrs. Preston Campbell, New Glasgow, P. E. I.; Edith, Mrs. Bruce Curtis. Wllmot Valley; Elma, Mrs. Harold Crockett of ‘lravera City. Mich.; Robert, Sherbrooke; Caro- line, Mira. —GRADUATION DANCE-The graduation dance at the Summer- side High School on Friday even- ing was: a great success. About four hundred young people attended. There were a large number of vis- itors from Charlottetown. The chaperons were Mrs. G. Innis Smith, Mrs. G. S. Inman and Mrs. H. G. Muttart. S.

“FIREMAN CALLED OUT-The Summerside fire department were called out about 1.30 yesterday for a gmall fire at the residence of Mr. Earle Sudsbury. The fire was caused by hot ashes being placed too near the corner of the house. The blaze burned a good sized hole in the side of the wall and had the firemen not arrived promptly, a very serious fire would have been the result. The firemen soon had the fire under control and very little damage was done. S.

An extremely lovely wedding took place in St. James‘ Presbyter- ian Church at eight o'clock evening when Miss Helen longs- low Rogers, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Rogers, of this city, and granddaughter of the late Benj. Rogers, was united in marriage to Mr. Richard Reginald Bell. son of Mr. Arthur F. Bell, and the late Mrs. Bell of Charlottetown. The ceremony was performed by the Rev, R. Mocrhead Legate, D. D., the church being beautifully doooratcd with snulax, ferns and white lilies.

During the assembling of the guests, Mrs. Keith Rogers, organist of the church, played appropriate music. The bride and her attend- ants were preceded by a full choir singing the processional hymn, “O Perfect Love." and as the cere- mony pioceeded, soft music was played throughout. The bride. who was given in marriage by her father, wore a princess gown -f white satin-with high neck and long sleeves and carried a bouquet of calla lilies. Her halo cap and veil were trim- med with duchess lace which for- morly belonged to her grandmo- ther. The bride's only attendant was Miss Muriel Weeks. as maid of honor, who ms gowned in pink silk net and taffeta and wore a. pink mohair picture hat, She car- ried a shower bouquet of blue oornflowers and lilies-of-the-val- 19V.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr. David L, Mathieson, and the three fishers were Mr. Benjamin Rogers, Jr., Mr. William T. Rogers, brothers of the bride and Mr. John P. l-Iillion. Following the service in the a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, the rooms being decorated with quantities of spring flowers.

The toast to the bride was pro- posed by His Honour Lieutenant Governor DeBlois and was res- ponded to in a most gracious man- ner by the bridegroom. After the reception Mr. and Mrs. Bell left by motor for New Hampshire, where the honey-moon will be spent at the country home of the bride's aunt. Mr. Larkui who lives alone, had left home early in the evening and was startled on returning ‘o find the flames coming through the roof. Before help could be summoned the house was doomed.
