The question of individual communion

session in St. John, and as already an- nounced in our telegrams it was referred to the General Assembly. This brief announcement however, ’gives but little indication of the feeling of the members ofthe Synod pro and con. .The St. John dailies of October 3 contain}. synoptical report of the proceedings, too long to be here reproduced infull, but we may give afew points that will give the ordinary render some idea of the general attitude of the Synod :toward this interesting question. '

The question was brought up on the appeal of Rev. Donald McNeill of Zion Church, Charlottetown, against the decision of the Presbytery oi P. E. Island. Mr. McNeill 2m; heard in support of his appeal and contended , that individual ,hups were an innovation, that the inno- vation was unscriptural, contrary to the

original institution of the Lord’s Supper, '

The vote was then taken on Dr. sedgwlck’s amendment, which was in effect that the appeal be sustained and WPresbytery's' decision recalled. This Rev. J. McGregor McKay then moved that the question be-referred to the Gene- ralAssembly. This was seconded and supported by Rev. Anderson Rogers of New Glasgow, and after some discussion I was adopted by a vote titles to 39. l I It will be seen that so ‘far as expression of opinion and preference w‘ent the in- dividual cup received but scanty support among the speakers who diacusaed the question. The matter now goes to the General Assembly with the movers and seconders of the resolutions above men'- tioned as commissioners to present the matter there.
