He was perched on an old stump on the bank almost in front ot Reddy. His fierce yellow eyes were watching the water. Over near the other bank Roddy could see Mrs. Quack, the Mallard Duo and several of her grown children. .King Eagle was watching these.

"I wonder if he'll try to catch one.” thought Reddy. "I would if I had wings."

But King Eagle made no move to try to catch one of those ducks. He was watching for s. fish. He knew that now and then a dead fish would be found floating in the water.
